Lately, my music taste has taken this crazy 180-degree turn. Anytime in the last few years I would have said that my favorite music was simple, chill melodies from indie folk bands. But then I hit what seems to be that crazy punk woman-power stage most girls experience around the eighth grade, and all I want to listen to is woman vocalists producing layered and complex electronic pop or really unique vocals. Women with beliefs and intelligence and will-power; pop-artists with personality. Here are a few of my current favorites:
I'm
tired of being considered vapid for liking pop music or caring about fashion as
if these things inherently lack substance. - Grimes
For anyone who makes music, whether they are a part of an
established religion or just doing it for themselves, it’s kind of a matter of
holiness to represent yourself, in the ways you do when you make anything,
whether an artist or a musician, you are representing yourself in such an open
way, representing yourself like that. You do it because you believe in it and
you want people to understand what you believe. – Purity Ring
I feel like mystery is more interesting. People respond to something
that intrigues them instead of something that gives them all the information —
particularly in pop, which is like the genre for knowing way too much about
everyone and everything. - Lorde
I've decided to start making playlists representing the music that reminds me of each season of my life, and you can listen to be most current here: Silhouettes — Fall 2013. What are you listening to lately?

You've listed some of my favourite artists here.
